Thanksgiving Craft

This craft was hands-down (no pun intended) my favorite Fun Friday craft of the year! We had to start on Wednesday in order for the handprints to dry. They turned out SO cute! My students' favorite detail was the googly eyes. They couldn't stop laughing! :) The turkeys are hanging from the ceiling of our classroom and they look amazing!

Happy Thanksgiving!

Pumpkin Activities

Pumpkin and Fall Activities- October 2014

The following pictures showcase a few crafts and activities that we did in October. We took the month to learn about the lifecycle of pumpkins and experiment with real pumpkins. There are an endless amount of trade books and nonfiction books that can be used to teach pumpkins in kindergarten. Below are a few of our favorites.

These were our two favorites to teach the lifecycle of pumpkins.

Here are a few pictures of the kids doing pumpkin crafts and activities. It was a fun month!

The students learned the lifecycle of pumpkins. We spent a few days sequencing the lifecycle. Click HERE for this FREE packet of papers and pictures. It was very fun and helpful!

We used the same packet from above to do our pumpkin investigation. Parents donated pumpkins to the class and the students had to measure it with unifix cubes, see if it floated or sank, count the lines, etc. My class loved this! I enjoyed watching them work in teams. It was a fun afternoon.

We took the 3 days before Fall Break to do Five Little Pumpkins. We had a great time painting paper plate pumpkins and acting out the poem. We also had a fun day making the craft above. Below was our favorite YouTube video we watched during the week.

And lastly...

We went outside and collected different leaves in front of our school. Then we made paper plate wreathes with these leaves. I had to pile them and set heavy books on them over the weekend. After this they hung really nicely! I did send them home after a few days because I didn't think the leaves would last. They looked very festive in our room!

I hope you enjoyed our Fall Activities. It truly is one of my favorite months to teach!
